Split the whole file from page 1 in fixed-size chunks. Use 1 for one page per file.

Tool Introduction

PDF Splitter is a free online tool for dividing a PDF document into multiple smaller files or extracting selected pages. All processing happens locally in your browser - your file is never uploaded to any server, so your privacy stays protected. It works on both desktop and mobile browsers.

Three Split Methods

  • Select pages: Enter page ranges (e.g. 1-3, 5, 8-10) to extract exactly the pages you need. Combine the selected pages into one file, or output each range as a separate file.
  • Every N pages: Set a fixed number of pages per file. The document is cut evenly from page 1. Use 1 to get every page as its own file.
  • By file size: Set a size cap in MB and the tool splits the document accordingly - handy for email attachments and upload size limits.

Handy Features

  • Thumbnail selection: Browse page thumbnails and click to toggle pages on or off - no need to remember page numbers.
  • Quick selection: One-click select all, invert, odd pages only, or even pages only.
  • Preview: Preview the original file before splitting and check each result file before downloading.
  • ZIP download: When many files are generated, download them all at once as a ZIP archive.
  • Stop anytime: Cancel a running split without waiting for it to finish.

How to Use

  1. Click the upload area or drag a PDF file onto it.
  2. Choose a split method: select pages, every N pages, or by size.
  3. Click "Split PDF" and wait a moment.
  4. Preview and download each result individually, or grab them all as a ZIP.

Use Cases

  • Extract a single chapter from a combined document to share on its own.
  • Cut a large PDF into smaller parts to meet email attachment or upload size limits.
  • Split a scanned collection into single pages for archiving or printing.
  • Extract odd or even pages for double-sided printing or document organization.

FAQ

Q: Is this tool free?

Q: Is my PDF uploaded anywhere? Is it safe?

A: Splitting runs entirely in your browser. Your file never leaves your device, so your privacy is protected.

Q: Can I split a password-protected PDF?

A: Encrypted PDFs must have the password removed first. The tool will show a clear prompt when it detects one.

Q: How do I download many result files at once?

A: When more than one file is generated, a "Download all (ZIP)" button appears. Click it to get everything in one archive.

Q: Does splitting by size guarantee each part is under the limit?

A: The tool keeps each part as close to the cap as possible, but the exact size is only known after splitting. A single oversized page still becomes its own file.
