Tool Introduction

Minesweeper is a classic logic puzzle game that originated in the 1960s and gained worldwide popularity through Microsoft Windows. This online version brings the full Minesweeper experience to your browser — no download required, playable on both desktop and mobile devices.

Difficulty Levels

Three classic difficulty modes are available:

  • Beginner: 9×9 grid with 10 mines — perfect for newcomers learning the rules.
  • Intermediate: 16×16 grid with 40 mines — requires logical thinking and patience.
  • Expert: 16×30 grid with 99 mines — the ultimate challenge for experienced players.

How to Play

Your goal is to reveal all safe cells without triggering any mines. Here's how to play:

  1. Click a cell: Left-click to reveal it. A number shows how many mines are in the surrounding 8 cells. If there are no adjacent mines, empty cells expand automatically.
  2. Flag a mine: Right-click (PC) or long-press (mobile) to place a flag on a suspected mine. Repeat to remove the flag.
  3. Auto-reveal: Click a numbered cell when the flag count around it matches the number — all remaining adjacent cells are safely revealed automatically.
  4. Win condition: Reveal all safe cells or correctly flag all mines to win.
  5. Game over: Clicking a mine ends the game and reveals all mine locations. One free revival is available per game.

Key Features

  • Timer: Tracks elapsed time so you can challenge your personal best.
  • Mine counter: Displays remaining unflagged mines in real time.
  • Game history: Records your wins to track improvement over time.
  • Revival system: One free revival per game; additional revivals use in-platform credits (3, 9, 27 credits each, up to 5 extra revivals).
  • Mobile support: Full touch support with long-press flagging and horizontal scrolling for larger grids.

Tips & Strategies

  • Start at corners or edges: These areas often open large safe regions on the first click.
  • Use number logic: A "1" with only one unrevealed neighbor means that cell is definitely a mine. If a number matches its surrounding flags, the remaining neighbors are safe.
  • Cross-reference numbers: Compare adjacent numbered cells to deduce which cells must or cannot contain mines.
  • Guess wisely on Expert: Some Expert configurations require probability-based guesses when pure logic runs out — choose cells with the lowest mine probability.

FAQ

How do I flag mines on mobile?

Long-press any unrevealed cell for about 0.5 seconds to place a flag. Long-press again to remove it. No mode switching is needed.

Where are my game records stored?

Records are saved locally in your browser and will be lost if browser data is cleared.

How does the revival system work?

After hitting a mine, you'll be prompted to revive. The first revival per game is free. Subsequent revivals cost platform credits: 3, 9, and 27 credits respectively, with a maximum of 5 extra revivals per game.
