Online Whiteboard

1 / 1
Tool Introduction

Online Whiteboard is a browser-based digital whiteboard that opens instantly — no account, no plugin, no download. The canvas fills your window and works with a mouse, trackpad, finger or stylus, so you can write, sketch and annotate the moment the page loads. Everything is rendered locally in your browser; your strokes and pasted images are never uploaded, and your work is still there when you come back.

Key Features

  • Nine drawing tools: pen, highlighter, eraser, straight line, arrow, rectangle, ellipse, text and move — enough for handwriting, annotation and quick diagrams.
  • Highlighter marking: translucent wide strokes let you emphasise a detail on top of screenshots or existing ink without hiding what is underneath.
  • Adjustable colour and width: black, red, blue and green on paper backgrounds, switching to white, yellow and coral on the blackboard; three stroke widths also scale the text tool.
  • Four backgrounds: blank, ruled, grid and blackboard. Ruled lines help with notes, grids with tables and geometry, and the blackboard suits classroom-style writing.
  • Undo and redo: use the toolbar buttons or Ctrl+Z to step back and Ctrl+Y / Ctrl+Shift+Z to step forward.
  • Select, move and delete: with the move tool, click any stroke, shape, text or image to select it, drag to reposition, then press Delete or Backspace, or clear the whole page in one click.
  • Up to 30 pages: switch pages with the previous and next buttons and add a new page whenever you need a fresh board.
  • Paste images: press Ctrl+V on the canvas to drop a clipboard image; it is scaled automatically and centred, ready to annotate.
  • Export as PNG: one click saves the current page as a PNG file you can share in a chat, embed in a document or hand in as homework.
  • Fullscreen mode: enlarge the toolbar and canvas to the whole screen for distraction-free writing, and press Esc to return.
  • Automatic saving: strokes, pages and background are stored locally in your browser, so a refresh or an accidental close does not wipe your work.

Use Cases

  • Online teaching: explain step by step, circle key points and draw arrows to the next step, keeping each topic on its own page.
  • Meetings and reviews: sketch a flow, architecture or timeline while discussing, then export the page as an image for the record.
  • Ideas and drafts: jot down outlines, mind-map skeletons or quick wireframes without opening heavyweight design software.
  • Homework and practice: write out solutions with a stylus on a tablet and export a clean image instead of taking a blurry photo.
  • Image annotation: paste a screenshot or mockup and mark the parts that need changes with arrows, boxes and text.

How to Use

  1. Start drawing immediately — the pen tool is active by default.
  2. Pick a tool in the toolbar, then choose a colour and stroke width.
  3. Switch the paper background to ruled, grid or blackboard when you need alignment guides.
  4. With the text tool, click on the canvas to type; press Enter to confirm, Shift+Enter for a new line, Esc to cancel.
  5. Select objects with the move tool to reposition them, press Delete to remove them, and Ctrl+Z if anything goes wrong.
  6. Add a new page when the current one fills up, and use the previous/next buttons to review earlier pages.
  7. Click Save to export the current page as PNG, or Fullscreen for a larger writing area.

Tips

Shapes snap into place once you release the pointer, so you can still adjust the direction while dragging. When annotating a pasted image, position it with the move tool first and only then switch to the arrow or rectangle tool to avoid dragging it by accident. Keep one idea per page — flipping pages is easier to follow than repeatedly erasing the same board. Automatic saving covers normal refreshes, but exporting a PNG once in a while is the safest backup.

FAQ

Q: Is the online whiteboard free? Do I need an account?

A: It is completely free and needs no sign-up or installation. Just open the page and start drawing.

Q: Will my drawing be saved after I close the page?

A: Yes. Strokes, pages and the background are stored automatically in your browser's local storage. Clearing browser data or using private mode may remove them, so export a PNG for anything important.

Q: How many pages can I create?

A: A single whiteboard holds up to 30 pages, each keeping its own content.

Q: What export format is supported?

A: The current page can be exported as a PNG image that includes the background.

Q: Can I add images to the board?

A: Yes. Copy an image and press Ctrl+V on the canvas; it is scaled and centred automatically and can then be moved or annotated.

Q: Does it work on phones, tablets and with a stylus?

A: Yes. The layout adapts to small screens and supports finger and stylus input. Fullscreen mode gives you more room to write.

Q: Is my content uploaded anywhere?

A: No. Drawing, image pasting and PNG export all happen locally in your browser, and your content never leaves your device.
