Online Screen Recorder

Microphone
System audio
3-second countdown

In the share dialog, pick a tab, window, or entire screen, not this page. For system audio, check share audio. Full-screen audio works best in Chrome or Edge on Windows. If the mic and speakers are both on, wear headphones so the mic does not pick the playback back up.

Longer recordings use more memory. Download as soon as you stop.

Tool Introduction

The Online Screen Recorder lets you capture your screen directly in the browser with no software to install. Using the browser's screen-sharing capability it can record your entire screen, a single window or a specific tab, together with microphone narration and system audio. The video is generated and saved locally when you stop, without being uploaded to any server, keeping the process simple and private.

Key Features

  • Flexible capture area: record the whole screen, one window or one browser tab, with the current surface type shown while recording.
  • Two quality levels: choose Smooth (720p) or Clear (1080p), up to about 30 fps, balancing sharpness and file size.
  • Configurable audio: record the microphone or system sound on its own, or mix both together (wear headphones when both are on to avoid echo).
  • Pause and resume: skip unwanted moments mid-recording; the button hides automatically on browsers that cannot pause.
  • 3-second countdown: an optional lead-in so you can get ready before recording starts.
  • Local WebM export: stop to generate a WebM video you can preview and download with a timestamped name; convert to MP4 with the on-site video converter if needed.
  • Cursor capture: mouse movement is recorded by default, ideal for demos and tutorials.

Requirements

This tool relies on browser screen-recording APIs, so please use Chrome or Edge on a computer; mobile browsers cannot record the screen. Full-screen system audio works best in Chrome or Edge on Windows.

Use Cases

  • Recording software demos, online tutorials and lessons.
  • Capturing key moments from classes, meetings or live streams.
  • Creating product demos, bug reproductions and support videos.
  • Quick screen recording when installing software is not an option.

How to Use

  1. Pick a quality level and toggle microphone, system audio and countdown as needed.
  2. Click Start, then choose a screen, window or tab in the browser's share dialog (avoid selecting this page).
  3. Pause or resume during recording, and click Stop when finished.
  4. Preview the result and download the WebM file.

Notes

Longer recordings use more browser memory, so download promptly after stopping. Stopping the share in the browser ends the recording automatically, and refreshing or closing the page loses any video you have not downloaded. Please only record content you are authorised to capture.

FAQ

Q: Is my recording uploaded to a server?

A: No. The video is generated and saved locally in your browser and never uploaded.

Q: Do I need to install any software?

A: No. You can record and export right in the web page without installing a client.

Q: Why doesn't it work on my phone?

A: Screen recording depends on desktop browser APIs that mobile browsers do not support; please use Chrome or Edge on a computer.

Q: Why is there no system audio?

A: Full-screen system audio is most stable in Chrome or Edge on Windows. When recording a tab, tick “share tab audio” in the dialog.

Q: It exports WebM—how do I get MP4?

A: The tool exports WebM by default; use the on-site video converter to turn it into MP4.
