Got a new keyboard and want to check it before unboxing? An old keyboard where a key feels different after years of use? Mid-game and suddenly a key stops responding? The most direct solution is to test each key one by one.
Toolshu's Keyboard Tester lets you start testing the moment you open the page — press any key and the corresponding position lights up instantly. Normal or faulty, you'll know in seconds.

How to Use It
Open the page and you'll see a virtual keyboard layout that matches a real keyboard.
Just press keys on your physical keyboard — the corresponding key on the page highlights immediately, confirming that key is responding normally. If you press a key and nothing lights up, that key may have a fault or a contact issue.
Testing the numpad: Make sure Num Lock is enabled first, otherwise the number pad keys won't register correctly.
Which Keys Are Covered?
- Main key area: All letters, numbers, and symbol keys
- Function keys: F1–F12
- Control keys: Esc, Tab, Caps Lock, Shift, Ctrl, Alt, Win, Enter, Backspace, Delete, and more
- Arrow keys: ↑↓←→
- Numpad: 0–9 and arithmetic operator keys
- Navigation keys: Insert, Home, End, Page Up, Page Down
Essentially every key on a full-size keyboard is covered.
When Would You Use This?
Checking a new keyboard on arrival: Run through all the keys quickly to confirm there are no dead keys before discarding the packaging.
Diagnosing an aging keyboard: A key that feels unreliable — press it repeatedly with the tester to see whether it's intermittent or completely failed.
Gaming key verification: Confirm that WASD, Space, Shift, and other frequently used keys are responding consistently.
Before sending in for repair: Document exactly which keys have problems so you can communicate clearly with the repair technician.
