[Online Tool] Don't Know the Postal Code for a Shipping Address? Look It Up Instantly

Original Author:bhnw Released on 2026-03-13 16:05 15 views Star (0)

You're filling in a shipping address and get stuck at the postal code field.

Most courier platforms auto-complete it these days, but occasionally you run into an older system, a workplace mailroom form, or you need to get a postal code from a friend in another city. Then you're back to searching for it manually.

Search online and you get a wall of ads mixed with results from sources of questionable accuracy, and half your time goes into figuring out which one to trust.

Toolshu's Postal Code Lookup lets you enter a city name, district name, or known postal code and get results directly — with telephone area codes included at the same time.

What Can You Look Up?

Four search methods — use whichever fits:

  • City name: Enter 成都 (Chengdu) and see the postal codes and area codes for all its districts
  • District name: Enter 海淀区 for a result precise to that district level
  • Postal code: Enter a known code to reverse-look up which region it belongs to
  • Telephone area code: Enter 020 and find out it's Guangzhou, along with the associated region details

Results are displayed in tabs organized by province, with a table showing district, postal code, and area code. Find what you need at a glance.

How Are Chinese Postal Codes Structured?

China's mainland postal codes are 6 digits with a consistent structure:

  • First 2 digits: Provincial region (Beijing is 10, Shanghai is 20, Guangdong is 51–53)
  • 3rd digit: Postal district
  • 4th digit: County-level city or urban district
  • Last 2 digits: Delivery office number

This means different districts in the same city share the same first few digits, with only the last digits differing — similar in logic to how the address code in a resident ID number works.

The Area Code Feature Is Useful Too

Mobile calls don't need area codes anymore, but a few situations still call for them:

  • Filling in a landline number on a form — the area code is a required field
  • Seeing an unfamiliar incoming number and wanting to know which city it's from
  • Sending a fax or filling in contact details on a contract in a professional setting

This tool looks up postal codes and area codes together — no need to search for them separately.
